Have you heard about Gloria Furman’s new book, “Missional Motherhood?” Seriously, I am absolutely smitten with this book. It gives Mama’s so much practical encouragement for how to best reach their child’s heart for God. It’s really given me a sense of purpose in my day to day life!
I was ecstatic to see that there’s an accompanying Bible study to this book! Lifeway was so kind as to let me review this product and share my thoughts with you today.
“Am I just a Mom?” That’s the question this study aims to answer. I know many times in my own life, I ask myself this question. It’s easy to feel insignificant and like what you’re doing doesn’t matter. Many Moms struggle with finding the purpose in the mundane tasks of day-to-day mothering, especially when the things that you’re doing seem insignificant in the light of your dreams for the Kingdom.
While I don’t believe that being a Mom is my only purpose in life, I do believe that in this season, it is my main mission field. It’s been a struggle to accept that my life, my sacrifice for God, isn’t moving to Timbuktu, but dealing with the terrible twos. 🙂
I think this Bible study is going to help a lot of Moms see that what they’re doing is worth it. That they are worth it. Broken up into 6 sessions, this study covers everything from our identity as Mothers to serving. I love how much Scripture is included in this study. It’s rare to find a study that is so Scripturally based!
Gloria is an amazing writer and she provides encouragement along with some thought-provoking questions. I’m going to be honest, I don’t really dig into the Old Testament too much, beyond the Psalms, Proverbs and specific characters. This gave me a new view of the Old Testamant and how it ties into my daily life.
I’d highly recommend this study and have been so blessed by it.
