I hadn’t heard of Erin Loechner until I read her book, “Chasing Slow”. Weird, huh? From what I hear she’s an amazing interior decorator, well known for her contributions to HGTV. The fact that I don’t have cable might explain my aloofness. 🙂 I wanted to read this book because I’ve been obsessed with seeing how other people are slowing life down and savoring what really matters.
This book was an absolute treat to read. It has funny little side boxes full of recipes, tips, math equations (gotta read it to see what I mean!) and quotes. I appreciated the fact that this book was written in memoir style as it made real life application of the suggestions much easier to picture. The author has a beautiful writing style that reminded me of a quirky movie. This book isn’t a practical guide with tangible suggestions about slowing your life down. It’s more of a “follow by example” type of book. I think if you go into it knowing that information, you are more likely to enjoy it. The author is relatable and hilarious at times. I really enjoyed reading about her family and business ventures.
This book taught me to evaluate the reasons why I’m always searching for more. It helped me learn that it’s okay to be “less” and to not always shoot for the stars. It was a great reminder to step back and be satisfied with what I have.
