As a Mama to two toddler boys, I want to make sure they know their feelings are okay. I want to help them manage their feelings with God’s help and to know that no matter what they feel, they are loved and safe.
First Feelings is the perfect tool to help me do this. Through lovable characters, kids learn about worry, anger, happiness, excitement, jealousy and more. This book teaches through stories, which I like. The fact that this book was written by a professional made me trust the suggestions given at the end of each chapter. The chapters are short, yet thorough and even my not quite 2 year old was able to follow along. The questions in each story help children personalize the emotion and put themselves in the tales.
I gained a lot of insight through the author’s explanation of how each emotion affects our kids. I really loved how the author didn’t say any emotion was off limits, but instead gave realistic suggestions to work through emotions. I recommend this read to any teacher, parent, or guardian looking for insight on how to help their children work through emotions sensibly.
